I am a mum of one and have spent my whole adult life caring for children in various roles. I am a qualified primary school teacher and I'm also a KGH mum myself. I know firsthand what a difference hypnobirthing can make! Since having my own baby, I am passionate about helping other couples to achieve a positive and empowering birth experience.
Hello I'm Karen, a qualified and very experienced Complimentary Therapist. I have also gained a wealth of experience working for the NHS for over 27 years as a Registered General Nurse and Health Visitor. I first trained as a Reflexologist in London following the birth of my daughter, having had regular treatments throughout my pregnancy to ease the symptoms and ensure I was relaxed and well for the birth. I trained at St. Marys university in Twickenham and registered with the Association of Reflexologists. I have continued to study and now specialise in fertility, maternity and baby reflexology.
I have trained as a KG Hypnobirthing teacher and I am passionate about supporting parents to improve their birth experience and share the knowledge and skills to empower them.
Hypnobirthing is a logical, simple and comprehensive antenatal programme, as well as techniques to support in pregnancy and labour it instils confidence in parents. I am also a qualified infant massage and baby yoga instructor and offer small classes or 1:1sessions.

I am a dedicated and passionate midwife who has been practising since 2008. I have worked in all areas of midwifery including community and in birth centres. My main goal when working as a midwife is to keep a woman’s birthing experience as ‘positivel’ as possible, even when their experiences are ‘not going to plan’. This is through different methods such as encouraging upright positions, advising massage and a homely atmosphere. During the time that I have worked as a midwife, I have cared for many couples who have used hypnobirthing as a tool to give them the best labour and birth experience possible. I was very inspired by these experiences, as I frequently cared for women that seemed so calm, their labours often progressed quickly and the women often used less pain relief than those not hypnobirthing. Along with this, the birth partners also appeared well informed and very supportive. These experiences inspired me to becoming a KG Hypnobirthing Practitioner, as I also wanted to be able to share these amazing, powerful techniques. I work part time as midwife now and part time as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner to give couples the flexibility and best availability for their classes. During my spare time, I go hiking, practice yoga and I am involved in a local midwifery group who are campaigning for a much-needed free standing birth centre in South Yorkshire. I love to travel and I have been lucky enough to spend time in different countries such as Madagascar, where I have gained many different experiences and have had my practice influenced.
Throughout my midwifery training, I was amazed and encouraged by the remarkable women I met and cared for, reinforcing my passion to improve birth experiences for all women. When I first cared for a woman who was utilising Hypnobirthing techniques, I was astounded by her confidence in her body, her baby and her birth and witnessed firsthand what a positive impact this had. I am a firm believer in KG Hypnobirthing, having seen it's huge success in a multitude of scenarios and my aim is to assist couples, making their pregnancy journey and experience as calm and positive as possible. I completed my dissertation on the use of hypnosis as a complementary therapy and I was amazed by the quantity of positive research. I was then fortunate enough to win the Iolanthe Midwifery Trust Student Award which funded my Hypnobirthing training. I teach Hypnobirthing alongside my career as a midwife which gives me a full insight into the advantages of Hypnobirthing throughout the birthing journey.
I have 0ver 30 years experience in the NHS and have been a Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner since 2000, specialising in Hypnobirthing for the last few years. Working with Coaching, Mentoring and Counselling skills enables me to provide a rounded approach for all I work with. I have a large family and we are all very close, meeting up on a regular basis. I have two beautiful children, Joe who is 26, an electrician and soon to be married and Jennie who is 24, a primary teacher who loves outdoor sports. My Mum is 85, very fit and healthy and spends everyday with us. Family and their wellbeing is very important to me.
