Hypnobirthing Hertfordshire - Teachers' Directory
Hi, my name is Emily. I am a midwife, a Katherine Graves Hypnobirthing instructor and soon to be mama! I am experienced in caring for women and their families during the birth of their babies, and I am passionate about ensuring mamas have the preparation they need for this incredible journey.
During my work as a midwife I have become intensely aware of how fear can unfavourably affect birth. I have seen first-hand, the difference between women who believed their bodies could and so did, and those who were consumed by fear. I have also witnessed many women who were empowered and confident in birthing their babies as a result of hypnobirthing. These women often go on to have incredible natural births and become confident mothers, giving both them and their babies the best start.
As a result I wanted to help make a positive impact in preparing women, in the best way I knew of, for birth. So, I trained in the KG Hypnobirthing method, on a Royal College of Midwives accredited course, as I believe this course gives women the preparation necessary to have the chance of a beautiful, empowering birth. I am passionate about supporting women on their journey to motherhood and I love watching women grow into beautiful, assured mamas.
I know you can do it, and I want you to believe it too!
In my pre-birth life I had a cool job in London designing shiny stuff that no one really needs.
Then I had a hypnobirth, a daughter and a change of direction.
I was born at home using hypnobirthing – though it wasn’t called that in the Seventies, people just thought my mum was nuts until they heard about her “enjoyable” experience.
I love teaching pregnant ladies to harness their inner superpowers, knowing they are soon to amaze themselves in labour. We learn that it's not magic but lots of logical tips put together.
Always learning, always expanding, always up for a laugh.
My interest and enthusiasm for supporting women and their partners through pregnancy, birth and new parenthood was sparked by my own experiences. Pregnancy and birth is a portal to another world, once you have stepped through it there is no return to your previous life.
Now, as an experienced mother of three older children, a birth and postnatal doula and Hypnobirthing teacher, I have the passion, energy and belief that this is my time to educate, nurture and encourage expectant parents as they prepare for the huge changes in life that a baby brings. I am keen and willing to keep on learning and exploring in order to educate myself, so that I can hand that knowledge on to others.
Having walked the same path that you are now walking, I can understand some of the fears and challenges you might be facing. Let me be your guide so that I can share the skills and techniques of KGHypnobirthing to unlock the powerful resources that are within you, so that you have the strength, stamina and knowledge to face them.
With a background in law and career in the city as a tax consultant I may not be what you think of when you visualise a hypnobirthing teacher! I was recommended by my client (she was insistent) to look into hypnobirthing nearly 10 years ago and it has changed my life profoundly:
Firstly, I discovered what my passion in life is. I truly believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to understand the benefits of hypnobirthing and I do everything I can to facilitate that. Secondly, I was lucky enough to discover hypnobirthing before my 1st birth and as a result my husband and I had two empowering calm births which we loved. We are so grateful to the person who introduced us to hypnobirthing.
If you are vaguely interested in hypnobirthing, please get in contact and I would be more than happy, in fact, it would be a honour to be the person that introduces you to hypnobirthing.
I'm a passionate believer in not only taking care of your body throughout the different stages of life but also your mind. I have a huge interest and love for complementary therapies to bring about a sense of good health and general well being. I'm not only a trained hypnobirthing practitioner but also a Massage therapist and reflexologist, specialising in pregnancy.
I'm a mummy to three small children and I discovered my passion for pregnancy & birth after the birth of my babies. It was by far the most empowering experience I've ever had! I was not aware of hypnobirthing at the time and it wasn't until a friend told me about it, that I realised how similar my birthing experience was to those who had used hypnobirthing. It fascinated me and I thought back to the ways in which I had prepared for the birth of my babies. Without knowing it I had followed a very similar route to hypnobirthing in terms of getting your mind mentally ready. I read lots of positive birth stories thanks to a book called spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin and I did weekly pilates classes. What I didn't realise at the time was how I was flooding my subconscious with all these lovely positive affirmations, so when the time came my mind and body was in the best place to birth my babies naturally. Lots of people create an image in their mind of the 'perfect birth' but in reality I do not believe such a thing exists. Having the ability to relax, to release fear or anxieties and ultimately allowing your body to be able to do what it needs to, will help you on your way to having the best birth possible. I feel if i'd have done hypnobirthing I would have been in an even better place, not just before and during labour but also after the birth of my babies.
It's important to remember that whatever kind of birth you have you're totally amazing!! Enjoy your babies they grow up so fast!
I am a hypnotherapist specialising in Hypnobirthing and I was a Science and Psychology teacher for 10 years. These skills enable me to be very flexible in my approach. I use a wide range of techniques so that we can find the ones that work best for you, whatever your birth preferences.
There are so many things I love about preparing couples for birth, such as seeing how quickly sceptical partners convert, watching fear turn into anticipation, hearing wonderful birth stories and of course, if I’m lucky, meeting the adorable babies.
I became a KG Hypnobirthing teacher following two amazing and, dare I say it, enjoyable births. Before my first pregnancy I was incredibly sceptical about Hypnobirthing, so I was blown away when simply listening to some CD’s helped the birthing process and me. For my second pregnancy I decided to book a complete course, to see what a difference it could make. As a result, we birthed comfortably and quickly at home.
I have been teaching yoga for over fourteen years and pregnancy Yoga for four years. I teach classes in my local community of Berkhamsted and have really enjoyed adding Hypnobirthing to my teaching.
I am married with two grown up children .
